35 Years of MurphyEpson: Celebrating Connection, Culture and What’s Next

MurphyEpson

Since 1989, MurphyEpson has worked with passion and purpose, helping organizations forge meaningful connections with the Columbus, Ohio region and beyond. We’re not just communicators — we’re connectors, linking communities and ideas. And as we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we refocus on the culture that has brought us here — one of camaraderie and commitment to improving our world.

“This team is truly phenomenal,” said Marie Keister, President and CEO of MurphyEpson. “And we’re only getting started.”

To honor this milestone, we spoke with team members — both long-time veterans and newer faces — to explore how and why MurphyEpson has stood the test of time.

Our Bread and Butter

From pioneering mental health campaigns for new mothers to creating community-driven transportation initiatives, we aim for sustained and positive progress in the public sector, private sector and everything in between.

Controller Angela Rex said — above all — our work ensures everyone has a seat at the table.

“Our job often involves translating complex or unfamiliar concepts into clear language so communities can connect with projects that shape their lives,” Angela said. “We’re the bridge that brings people into the conversation.”

Art Director Erin Hanna has been at MurphyEpson for more than a decade, working on numerous community-based projects.

“I’ve enjoyed working on campaigns that reach people who may not have access to or support,” Erin said. “It’s rewarding to know we’re making a difference.”

Senior Project Manager Stephanie Tresso has been at MurphyEpson for more than 27 years. She said there’s something unique about this place.

“Working at MurphyEpson has been more than a job; it’s a career of purpose,” Stephanie said.

You’re Only As Good As Your People

Professional and personal growth are central to MurphyEpson’s mission. Our teammates are encouraged to bring fresh ideas, take chances and continuously expand their skills, regardless of their titles, roles and knowledge. Silos don’t exist at MurphyEpson — we’re all in this together and we all offer something different.

Project Manager Liz Webb joined MurphyEpson right after college.

“I was encouraged to share my ideas right from the start, even in rooms with more experienced colleagues,” she said. “That trust is empowering.”

“It’s Like A Warm Hug”

MurphyEpson is a team that celebrates success, supports one another and helps everyone grow.

Art Director Missi Burris has been a member of MurphyEpson for nine years.

“You’re not going out there alone,” Missi said. “You have a team, and everybody looks out for one another.”

From our annual outing at The Memorial Tournament to our monthly potlucks, we’re continually reconnecting and building bonds where personal and professional relationships thrive. These bonds translate directly into our work, creating a collective spirit that drives each of us to go the extra mile — with our team and for our team.

“It’s like a warm hug,” said Senior Project Manager Lindsey Sanders. “We’re a close-knit group that genuinely cares, and it shows in everything we do.”

Looking Forward: A Culture of Growth

With a successful and solid footing built on culture and collaboration, MurphyEpson grows stronger with every new project and every new team member.

“In a time of information overload, I believe our skills in engagement, education and innovation are more important than ever,” said Senior Media and Content Manager Jonathan Keilholz, who started working at MurphyEpson earlier this year. “I joined this team in part because of MurphyEpson’s phenomenal reputation. We are tremendously well-equipped and uniquely positioned to build a community of the future.”

Finally, we want to share a heartfelt note of gratitude to everyone in our team, our fantastic partners and everyone who has supported us along the way.

We wouldn’t be here without you.

Cheers to 35 years!
